2025/2026 L-2 - Classe delle lauree in biotecnologie Fano

Learning Objectives

The Biotechnology degree programme offers a comprehensive course combining theory and practice that enables graduates to work in various fields.

Biotechnology graduates will be able to clone, express and characterise recombinant proteins, which are also used to produce new diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines.

During the course, students will learn to use state-of-the-art techniques in molecular and cellular biology and to perform molecular tests and immunoassays. The compulsory internship will offer the opportunity to put the acquired skills into practice in a context closer to job world.

The course is entirely taught in Italian. Some materials may be provided in English.

Biotechnology (L-2 R)

The Biotechnology degree outlines a professional figure capable of pursuing a career in various areas, such as pharmaceutical companies, health system facilities and research laboratories at universities or other centres.

Graduates in Biotechnology will also be able to work in science communication and dissemination agencies, technology transfer centres and in many other public and private sectors dealing with living organisms and their constituents.

They can continue their studies by enrolling in a Master's degree programme in a biological or biotechnological field or a post-graduate degree. Finally, the degree course enables students to qualify for the professions of junior biologist, agricultural biotechnologist, graduate agro-technician and graduate agricultural expert.

Classes are organised in semesters, at the end of which examinations are scheduled.

In the first two years, students will acquire a solid grounding in the basic scientific disciplines, such as chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology.

In the third year, the course will focus on more specific and technical topics relevant to biotechnological applications in production areas, with a special focus on multidisciplinary approaches for the production of recombinant proteins with potential applications in the fields of health care and molecular diagnostics.

Classes activities include classroom lectures, practical lessons in the laboratory, seminars and internships, which can also be carried out abroad thanks to the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme.

  • Medical biotechnologies for diagnostics and therapy (LM-9 R)
  • Nutritional biology (LM-6 R)
  • The course is held at Palazzo San Michele, Via Arco d'Augusto, 2, in the centre of Fano.
  • A tutoring service that provides valuable support in finding the most appropriate solutions to problems relating to study planning, the choice of thesis and post-graduate orientation is available.
  • There are research laboratories where internships and/or experimental theses can be carried out.
  • The course promotes participation in international mobility programmes.
  • The course has a Didactic Commission for the pre-assessment of previous careers. Email: cd.biotecnologie@uniurb.it.
