The University issues the Doctor Europaeus certification, in addition to the qualification and national value of the related PhD course, on the proposal of the Board of Professors in relation to a single request made by the PhD student, if the following four conditions are met:
- Positive judgment on the thesis work granted by two professors (referees) from two universities in two different countries of the Union and different from the one in which the thesis is discussed;
- At least one member of the final examination commission must belong to a university institution in a European Community country other than the one in which it is being discussed. The Referees referred to in point 1 cannot be part of the commission;
- Part of the discussion of the thesis must take place in one of the official languages of the European Community, different from that of the country in which the thesis is being discussed;
- Part of the research presented in the thesis must have been developed during a stay of at least 3 months in a European Community country other than the one in which the candidate is enrolled.
Once all the requisites have been met, the Doctor Europaeus certification will be issued jointly with the PhD title.
