The suspension of the Ph.D. programme is allowed for a period of up to 6 months. In such a case, the Ph.D. student will be admitted to the same year of the Ph.D. programme in the following academic year. Suspension is allowed in one of the following cases:

  • maternity/paternity;
  • serious and documented illness;
  • probation period for recruitment by a Public Administration with a permanent contract;
  • Civil Service.

If the duration of the suspension exceeds 30 days, the scholarship is suspended.

Procedure for the Suspension request:

  1. Access your Reserved Area by logging in, open the Student Area page, choose Domanda di sospensione carriera from the menu and fill in the online application. The system will guide you in completing the application;
  2. The application for the suspension request is put under evaluation for the necessary fulfilments for the approval.

The months of suspension will be made up (including the payment of eventual scholarship rates) at the end of the Ph.D. programme, so that the overall duration of the Ph.D. programme will be the same for all Ph.D. students i.e. 36 months.

Renunciation/Withdrawal

Carefully evaluate the possibility of withdrawing from your studies since with the withdrawal you interrupt your relationship with the University with the consequent loss of the doctoral status.

Procedure for withdrawing from a Ph.D. Programme:

  1. Access your Reserved Area by logging in, open the Student Area page, choose Domanda di chiusura carriera from the menu and fill in the online application. The system will guide you in completing the application;
  2. The application for termination of the career is put under evaluation for the necessary fulfilments;
  3. At the end of the evaluation, the PagoPA slip is issued in the reserved area for the virtual payment of € 16.00 foreseen for the duty stamp;
  4. With the payment of this contribution, the “Domanda di chiusura carriera” is finalized.

Forfeiture (loss of the Ph.D. Student Status)

Forfeiture is decided by the Board of Lecturers in the following cases:

  • negative evaluation by the Board itself at the annual verification of the activities carried out by the Ph.D. student;
  • unjustified and prolonged absences;
  • behaviours in contrast with the incompatibility norms.
