Hints on hemopoiesis and its most important features. Concept of stem cell.

Bone marrow and peripheral blood

Differential blood count

Manual methods in blood cell count and in differential blood count

Automated methods in blood cell count

Coulter principle, light scattering, and other intrinsic parameters

Automated methods in differential blood count

Axial extinction, and other intrinsic and extrinsic parameters

Flow cytometry / fluorescence cytometry (FCM)

FCM in the diagnosis of neoplastic disease of the blood (acute leukemias)
