Program
After a brief introduction to Racine's life and works, and to the tragedies of his immediate predecessor Corneille, three of Racine's tragedies will be read and analyzed, paying particular attention to the role of speech in the progression towards catastrophe, and with reflections upon the nature of the tragic in Racine.
