Program
The course will focus on the novel between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The general characteristics of the novel and its evolution over time will be studied. We will then focus on the representation of some famous female figures of the Italian novel of the period. In addition to a general overview of the most famous female protagonists, we will investigate in particular the character of Lucia, protagonist of Promessi Sposi, Pisana, protagonist of Le Confessioni di un italiano and Marta Aiala, protagonist of L'Esclusa.
