Learning Objectives

The aim of the Sociology Laboratory is to acquire theoretical and practical tools related to the logic of social research, its concepts, methods and techniques.

Program

The laboratory takes place in a series of meetings which include a part of frontal lesson, a part of practical exercise. The path is designed as a set of training modules that also see the involvement of teachers and external experts in order to propose different languages ​​and different research experiences. For each module a guided exercise will be proposed for which all the materials will be provided and which will be carried out partly in the classroom under the guidance of the teacher and partly remotely. For each proposed fulfillment, a moment of comparison and collective discussion is foreseen. The completion of all the formalities allows the completion of the course and the acquisition of the related credits.

Knowledge and understanding: This course aims to introduce students to the acquisition of knowledge, observation skills and interpretation of gender differences, the gender perspective and the pluralities that characterize the system of relationships in the context local and international social present. Particular attention is paid to the separation between the public and private spheres, to the construction of gender models in the political, cultural, economic and working spheres. The construction of subjective identities, the forms and methods of social participation within a gender perspective are the aspects on which the preparation of students is concerned. The teaching methods with which these objectives are pursued concern both frontal lessons dedicated to the focus and definition of concepts, and thematic seminar moments of in-depth analysis of specific themes and comparisons with specialist figures, as well as participatory lessons that require the active participation of the students. of the attendees.


- Applied knowledge and understanding: students are required to have the ability to acquire analytical and design tools, needs, the creation of services, their operation and functionality. The didactic methods with which these objectives will be pursued consist of resources that can be obtained from the lessons and the various didactic activities proposed in the course and also in exercises to develop the planning skills of territorial services as well as the analysis of specific contexts.

- Judgment autonomy: students must acquire the ability to connect various aspects of social life, plurality and change, as well as develop a comparative analysis capacity between different social realities. Furthermore, autonomous ability to re-elaborate, evaluate and judge through the tools that will be made available during the course is required. In this regard, the individual papers will be very important.

- Communication skills: students must acquire a specialized vocabulary through the appropriation of concepts and definitions, as well as their explanation and development in specific written papers, presented orally and discussed in public. The frontal and participatory teaching methods will support the achievement of these results.

- Learning skills: students must have developed good learning skills, which allow them to deepen the knowledge acquired during the course by tackling subsequent study paths on the issues of social participation read from a gender perspective. Lectures, seminars, collective discussions, data analysis and individual papers will be the teaching methods with which these objectives are pursued.
