Learning Objectives
Level A1 involves the acquisition of elementary language-communication skills that enable the candidate to meet his/her elementary communicative needs in a limited number of everyday life situations. Comprehension and use of basic expressions designed to meet elementary concrete needs (in the store, post office, bank, restaurant, restaurant, library, class, on transportation, at the doctor's office, etc.). Ability to introduce oneself and others, ask questions and respond about personal details related to where one lives, works or studies; ability to provide information about relatives or friends and the objects one owns. Use of greeting and parting formulas, pleasantries, good wishes, thanks, apologies. Expression of essential times and complements of time; simple interaction with an interlocutor, provided he/she speaks slowly, clearly and is willing to cooperate.
Teaching methods: face-to-face lectures
Written test mode:
- Composition of a text of at least 100 words on the required topic
- Comprehension of a written text (10 multiple choice questions)
- Lexical-grammatical test (60 multiple-choice questions)
Oral test mode:
- Listening test: Dictation
- Language assessment:
The assessment of reading skills of a text as well as its comprehension.
A free conversation with the reader: questions are aimed at testing mastery of grammatical and lexical content on topics covered during the year.
Notes: The teacher reserves the right to make changes and/or additions to the presented program which will be communicated to students during the course.

- The Cyrillic alphabet;
- The simple sentence with the demonstrative pronoun “это” (affirmative and negative);
- The interrogative pronouns “кто” and “что”;
- The personal pronouns. The allocutive pronoun of politeness;
- The nouns: masculine, feminine and neuter gender in the singular and plural;
- The possessive adjectives in the singular and plural and the interrogative pronouns “чей/чья/чьё/чьи”;
- Qualifying adjectives: masculine, feminine and neuter gender in the singular and plural;
- The formation of adverbs;
- Verbs in the present tense: the I е II conjugation, the phenomenon of consonantal alternation;
- Cardinal numerals;
- The declension of nouns (strong and weak);
- The prepositional case and its functions: state in place and subject complement;
- The transitive and reflexive verbs: (учить - учиться, заниматься);
- The accusative case and its functions: object complement and of motion to place;
- The existential and possessive value of the verb “to be.”
- The compound future of imperfective verbs;
- Verbal aspect. Perfective and imperfective verbs: the formation of aspect pairs;
- Imperfective verbs: simultaneity of two or more actions;
- The perfective verbs: sequence of two or more actions;
- The simple future of perfective verbs;
- The verbs of motion “идти-ходить” and “ехать-ездить” in the present and past tense: the difference between unidirectional and multidirectional verbs;
- The genitive case and its functions: complement of specification, of belonging, of motion from place, the construct of possession in negative sentences, use with cardinal numerals;
- Verbs of motion with a prefix: “по/при/в(во)/вы.”
- The dative case without prepositions and their functions: complement of term, age, semantic subject in impersonal sentences to express various states, complement of manner to place (subject) with the preposition “к”;
- The instrumental case and its functions: companion and union complement, middle complement, the nominal predicate in the past and future tense, the predicative complement of the subject;
- The modal verbs “хотеть,” “мочь” and the short predicative adjective “должен/должна/должны.”
- The impersonal sentence with the semantic subject in the dative: “нужно / надо” + the infinitive.
- The adverbs “жарко”, “холодно”, “тепло”, “плохо”, “хорошо”, “быстро”, “медленно”, “много”, “мало”, “нормально”, “очень” and others;
- The expression “мне нравится / мне не нравится”;
- The expression with “можно / нельзя”;
- The use of the verbs “любить”, “читать”, “жить”, “смотреть”, “писать”, “говорить”, “понимать”, “изучать”, “заниматься” and others;
- The use of “уже” and “ещё”;
- The means of transportation: the preposition “на” + the prepositional;
- Some predicative forms “рад/рада/рады”, “занят/занята/заняты”...;
- Some verbs in the imperative: “дай-дайте”, “скажи-скажите”, “покажи-покажите”...;
- The difference between the object complement “русский язык” and the adverbial form “по-русски”: the regency of some verbs,
- The ways to express the time: “когда?”, “сколько времени?”
- The complement of time (with months (Prepositional), days of the week (Accusative))
- The human body (minimal vocabulary);
- The expression “у меня болит/болят ...”;
- Verbs requiring the prepositional case (“думать,” “мечтать,” “слышать,” and others)
- The prepositions “около” + genitive and “рядом с” + instrumental.
Syntax:
- Copulative coordinate propositions with conjunctions: и, а, но.
- Explicit objective subordinate propositions (“Я знаю, что...”, “Я думаю, что...”)
- Causal subordinate propositions (Ира пойдёт в магазин, потому что хочет купить пальто)
- Subordinate consecutive propositions (Я люблю спорт, поэтому я часто играю в футбол)
