Learning Objectives
The student understands the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization. They are able to interact with a certain fluency and spontaneity that allows for natural interaction with native speakers without effort for the interlocutor. They communicate in business activities that require an exchange of information on work-related and common topics. They can engage effortlessly in situations that may arise while collaborating in a country where the language is spoken.
They have a basic understanding of communication logic and customs in China; the key points of topics regarding the development and successes that their home country and China have experienced in various sectors, such as economy, media, business culture, science, etc. They can produce a clear and detailed text on a wide range of topics and explain a viewpoint on a subject by providing the pros and cons of various options. They possess a proficiency in the Chinese language equivalent to level B2 (HSK level 4/5).
Program
1st Semester:
- Introduction to Business Chinese Part 3;
- Introduction to the Italian corporate profile in Chinese in a business context and effectiveness (oral and written expression);
- Business Banquet: Organizing various business meetings to arrange the event or collaboration;
- Contract.
2nd Semester:
- Introduction to Business Chinese Part 4;
- Negotiation: Organizing meetings and understanding etiquette in China;
- Innovation in China: The status of Chinese technology;
- Qualified personnel in China.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the language assistant in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the language assistant specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Innovative teaching methods
The course includes:
- Lectures
- Group work and writing assignments
- Oral presentations
- Participatory lessons where presented works will be discussed.
Innovative teaching:
The in-person teaching mode will be enriched with individual and group exercises and in-depth studies that students will carry out using the University’s Moodle platform. Some course topics will be addressed following practical approaches:
- Dual coding theory
- Constructivist teaching and heuristic lessons, Inquiry-Based Learning, questioning, and the “SQ3R” method.
- Cooperative learning (Learning Together, Jigsaw 2)
- Project-Based Learning (PBL)
- Gamification
- CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning)
- Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
- Competency-based teaching (condensing and curving disciplinary contents into thematic nuclei based on their educational value, towards building competencies; authentic assessments, case studies, incidents; systematic observations and cognitive autobiographies).
