Learning Objectives
The course provides some food for thought on sociological issues regarding childhood, highlighting some different phenomenologies in the dialectical process of social construction, from a historical and cultural perspective
Program
Introductory elements of general sociology: human society as a problem, symbolic mediation and consciousness, paradigms in comparison (holism and individualism, functionalism and conflict theory), society as a dialectical process; the processes of socialization, primary and secondary socialization
Childhood and society: Erikson's stages, the pedagogical perspective: Montessori and the child as the father of man, education to be autonomous, Don Milani's school and culture as a factor of social promotion.
Childhood as a new social phenomenon: towards the foundation of a new sociological paradigm.
The new Alpha generation in the era of electric and electronic psychotechnologies, "apocalittici e integrati" from television to social media: homo videns and non-propositional languages (Sartori and Simone) vs the new digital wisdom (Prensky)
