Learning Objectives

The aim of the course will be to provide the student with the basic theoretical and technical-operational knowledge to be able to conduct, manage and evaluate adapted and compensatory, individual and group motor activities of an educational, recreational and recreational nature aimed at improving and consolidating conditions. of psycho-physical well-being, prevention and maintenance of the autonomy of the elderly person. To improve the quality of life through the promotion of active lifestyles through structured and controlled physical exercise.

- Know the morpho-functional changes of the various systems, the psycho-social aspects of aging and the characteristics of motor involution.

-Know the theories and operational techniques of basic motor activity for the maintenance and improvement of coordinative and conditional motor skills. of the elderly person.

- Provide the fundamental theoretical, technical and basic didactic aspects of motor activity adapted for an adequate process of senility, socialization, through self-knowledge, of one's own limits and potential of motor activity.

- Educate in physical exercise through conscious, programmed, controlled movement, linked to correct and healthy lifestyles.

- Provide skills to propose and evaluate organizational solutions, propose hypotheses of basic motor intervention in close synergy with other professional personalities and in different contexts and social areas.

Program

Morpho-functional changes of the various systems in the elderly. Physical efficiency and health. Psychopedagogy aspects of motor activity for the elderly. Anti-senile prevention. Physical efficiency, health and quality of life. Evaluation of functional level, tests to evaluate motor skills and physical activity in adults. Identity and body image. Field test to measure the intensity of physical exercise: - Borg scale, aerobic training zone, intensity and workload,  strength, speed and resistance. Teaching and technique of basic exercises: - free body exercises, with the use of small, large, coded and makeshift tools. At home, in the gym, in a natural environment. Optimized forms of physical exercises, such as prevention of functional limitations, lower back pain and improvement of quality of life. Prevention of falls in the elderly. Balance, motor and postural patterns. Physical activity and prevention of metabolic syndrome. Adapted Physical Activity (AFA), basic technique and teaching. Prevention, maintenance and reactivation in the frail elderly. Gentle gymnastics, dance as a preventative physical activity. Old age, emotional and relational sphere: sexuality and old age. Physical and sporting activity. European Sports Charter; Code of Sports Ethics, fair play and sport are a commitment for everyone. Indications and contraindications to sports practice. Basic fitness for seniors. Outdoor activities: running, walking, Nordic Walking, basic exercises compared. Guidelines; examples of physical activity for everyone, free time, amateur, non-competitive sports.. (Itinerant seminars with testimonials of competitive sports practice), practical lessons, seminars. Injury prevention and safety in the gym. Educational laboratory, work protocols, exercises, teaching units.

Knowledge of the problems of physical and sports activity in elderly. Designing skills in creating training programs.

Competence in the implementation of physical activity protocols in different social and environmental settings (gym, swimming pool, natural environment).

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Lectures, seminars, meeting with master athletes, workshop.

For the practical part workshops and practical lessons within fitness facilities with the use of body weight and isotonic, cardiovascular and weight machines.

Minimum mandatory attendance: 2/3 of total practice lessons. As to the practical activities attendance is intended as the active participation to the lesson.

Tests during the course, oral presantation P.Point, creation of exercise program, research.

Oral exam.

An interview.

The formative evaluation (which has been awarded a score of at least 18/30) can be considered, at the student's choice, valid for passing the exam. If the student chooses not to use it, she/he must support the interview.
For both tests, the evaluation criteria are as follows:

- Relevant and effective answers in relation to the contents of the program; - level of mastery of knowledge; - adequacy of disciplinary vocabulary and terminological precision; - relevant application of methodologies, techniques, tools; - articulation of the answer.

Each of the criteria is evaluated based on a judgment four-level scale, with equal importance assigned to each criterion. The final evaluation is expressed in thirtieths .
