Please note: Ph.D. students who have requested suspension periods of their Ph.D. career must recover them before submitting their final exam application. The relevant deadlines will be adjusted accordingly.


DEADLINES FOR PHD STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT REQUESTED THE 3-MONTHS EXTENSION OF THE PH.D. PROGRAMME

By September 15th, Ph.D. students must submit to the Ph.D. Coordinator their final report regarding the activities carried out during the Ph.D. programme and eventual publications (see template “Relazione triennale / Final Report”).

By October 31st:

  • submission of the online final exam application (see “Guida al conseguimento titolo on line” - the guide is only available in Italian, but being a step-by-step guide with screenshots it is very useful also for international students: should you need any additional support, please contact the Ph.D. office);
  • delivery of the training activity booklet (if foreseen);*
  • payment of the contribution for the final exam application: Euro 16.00 (stamp duty)**
  • payment of contribution for parchment: Euro 16.00 (stamp duty)**

By October 31st: transmission of the thesis in PDF format for evaluation***.

*The training activity booklet must be submitted exclusively through the online procedure, explained below:

  • Go to http://www.uniurb.it/studentionline and choose “LOGIN” from the menu on the top right corner to access your Reserved Area by entering the credentials you received when you enrolled to the Ph.D. Programme (username = first part of your uniurb email address followed by @stud eg. n.surname@stud; password = personal code)
  • Choose Area Studenti (Student Area) from the menu, select Allegati Carriera (Career Attachments) and select Atti carriera studente (Student career documents) as type of attachment
  • Insert the .pdf file of the training activity booklet

**For the payment of the contribution for the final exam application and the contribution for the parchment see Payment methods at the bottom of this page.

***The Ph.D. thesis in .pdf format must be sent to the email address: dottorato@uniurb.it from the institutional email address (n.surname@campus.uniurb.it) assigned to the Ph.D. student at the time of enrolment, see “Means of Communication ”.

For the front page of your Ph.D. thesis, please refer to the dedicated template available at the bottom of this page.

As required by MIUR, Prot. 1581 of 26/07/2005 the following details must be indicated on the front page of the PhD thesis:

  • the name of the supervisor and eventual co-supervisor
  • the acronym of the Scientific Disciplinary Sector (SSD) to which they belong. In the case of several disciplinary sectors involved, the pre-eminent one in the treatment of the thesis must be indicated.

The Ph.D. Office will forward the Ph.D. thesis to the two evaluators appointed by the Board of Lecturers. Within 30 days, the evaluators will send the completed evaluation form and either propose the Ph.D. student’s admission to the Public Discussion or, if major integrations or changes are requested, a postponement of up to 6 months.

Based on the evaluations received from the evaluators, the Board of Lecturers admits or does not admit the Ph.D. student to the public discussion (see Regulation for Ph.D. Courses “Regolamento in materia di Dottorato di Ricerca: link).


Thesis submission procedure for the Final Exam

Following the positive evaluation of the thesis and the admission by the Board of Lecturers to the public discussion, the Ph.D. student will be informed about the date and time of the public discussion by the Ph.D. Office.

At least 15 days before the discussion, the following actions must be taken:

  • preventive deposit of the Ph.D. thesis in the Open University Archive ORA: for instructions regarding the archiving procedure of the Ph.D. thesis, please click here (as the page is only available in Italian, international students can contact the Ph.D. office for additional support);
  • the declaration form for filing the doctoral thesis in ORA and, eventually, the embargo request form must be submitted exclusively through the online procedure, by connecting to the address http://www.uniurb.it/studentionline> Login >“Reserved Area” > click on the item “Student area” > choose “Career attachments” > upload the file, specify the document under “Description” and choose “Atti carriera studente/Student career documents” as type of attachment.
  • the Ph.D. student is required to send the Ph.D. thesis in .pdf format to each of the members of the examining commission appointed for the final exam; the composition of the Examination Board as well as the email addresses of its members will be communicated via email to the Ph.D. student by the Ph.D. Office.

The title of Ph.D. ("Dott. Ric." Or "Ph. D.") is issued upon passing the final exam.


Payment modalities

Go to http://www.uniurb.it/studentionline and follow the procedure indicated below:

  • Reserved area: directly select the "LOGIN" link, entering your credentials issued at the time of registration (username = n.surname@stud; password = personal code).
  • Student Area> select Payments > click on the invoice number: the different payment methods will appear:
    • Pago with PagoPA: it is possible to pay online payment through credit institutions that adhere to the PagoPA system (see list)
    • Print Notice for PagoPA: print the payment notice to be presented at the counter of one of the authorized merchants (including tobacconists where the Sisal Pay or Lottomatica service is active) or of one of the credit institutions who adhere to the PagoPA system.
