Learning Objectives
Themes
The summer school, born in 2017, had a second edition in 2019 (Translating cultures / Translating cultures) and a third one in 2021 (ChinAmerica). For the year 2023 we propose a focus on the USA, in particular on the state of the art in translation and teaching. Cultural studies, translation studies, gender issues, ecocriticism, and trauma studies will be dealt with. Poetic language will be considered as a tool of knowledge (of oneself and of the Other) and of resistance to linguistic impoverishment and cultural stereotypes. Many lab hours, with translation of texts, writing and rewriting exercises, educational experiments, will enable students to approach literary translation and teaching in the Anglo-American field.

Il target è rappresentato da chiunque voglia approfondire la conoscenza della poesia e della società americana contemporanea, nonché avvicinarsi alle principali teorie critiche e di analisi. Utile soprattutto a studenti, docenti, dottorande/i, traduttori/trici o aspiranti traduttori/trici, scrittor/crici, poete/i. Sbocchi occupazionali: traduzione, mediazione culturale, scrittura, giornalismo, redazione di testi, didattica.

Activities of PhD Students
WHEN: 17-21 July (classes) + one week of individual study
Lectures, conversation, e-learning, laboratories
First week: in presence or online (35 ore)
Second week (online only): webinar, films, individual study
