Learning Objectives
The course aims the objectives of the knowledge of the structures, purposes and contents of the sociology of sport, the most important theoretical models of the discipline and the issues concerning the relationship between body and health, sport and wellness. The sport will be addressed not only as a motor and competitive practice but as a functional activity in the pursuit of socio-psychological and physical well-being, according to a model of sport imprinted on the concepts of wellness and health. The well-being in this sense is linked strategically to a conception of the body that is transformed into a cultural sense to become the engine of relationships for individuals and the place of construction of the social self. We will present theoretical and empirical analyzes following a concept of wellness that blends knowledge and action-oriented best practices (well-doing) as part of the quality of life. The main result is to stimulate thinking skills and planning skills to implement social architectures for the promotion, communication and circulation of well-being in sport activity.
Program
The course is divided into several thematic modules.
1. The sociological theories of wellbeing: definitions and perspectives
• The sruttural-functionalism
• Conflict theory
• The theory figurational
• The relational theory
2. Sport, body and wellness
• The social construction of the sports body
• Sport as a place of strategic relations
• Sports such as relational platform for social welfare
3. The welfare practices
• The research and work on the body
• The promotion of health and wellbeing
• Communication-being in the education system
• Practices of well-being and well-doing
4. Effective communication and sports
• Methods and techniques of interpersonal communication
• Forms of collective behavior in sport
• Group dynamics and methods sociometric
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Students will gain knowledge, and understanding of the main sociological theories of sport with particular reference to the problems faced by different methodologies and epistemological perspectives.
Students will also gain the ability to apply the concepts, will be able to analyze with independent judgment projects, plans and programs for sport promotion in the social system and educational system
Students will be in possession of useful skills to locate tools and methodologies of sport communication functional and appropriate to the context, to simulate action plans, to design working hypothesis on the field.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Supporting Activities
Teaching is carried out through ex cathedra lectures, seminars, regular discussions in the classroom. During the lessons, we will used syntetic schemes and explanatory presentations, such as teaching aids to the understanding of the issues examined. Such material will be made available online.

For the exam students are required to prepare the texts indicated. Any examination programs customized, need to be agreed with the teacher. The students are required to expose the issues addressed during the learning activities in the form of seminary or discussion in the class.

- Assessment
Methods to assess the level of preparation of students consist in the final oral examination and in the exposure of the issues addressed during the learning activities in the form of seminar or discussion in the classroom.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
