Learning Objectives
The course aims to provide a general view of productions and uses of plasters and plaster casts from the Antiquity to the modern period.
Program
Through a significant and diachronic selection of literary and material evidences introduced through outlines of relevant historical studies, ancient and modern plasters and plaster casts will be analyzed in their technical and material components, interpreted in relation to their specific end-usages and discussed in the social and artistic context that produced them and in which they were used .

The student will acquire (a) personal knowledge of the methodological background of the discipline, the ability to recognize and contextualize materials and contexts correctly, an appropriate knowledge of the scientific language of the discipline.

Lessons supported by topical PowerPoints created specifically for the course, and visits to the Plaster Cast Museum of the University of Urbino (Albani Palace).

Through oral examination, the student must demonstrate acquisition of the methodological background of the discipline, the ability to recognize and contextualize materials and contexts correctly, as well as appropriate knowledge of the scientific language concerning the discipline.
