Learning Objectives

The course aims to address some important issues in the field of organizational studies. The topics developed during the lectures pertain to organizational literature and human resources management. In the first part of the course concepts such as rationality in organizations, domains of organized action, technological variety, task environment, organizational design, organizational structure and assessment of organization are examined. In the second part of the course the focus is on human resource management methods and practices. The most common practices of personnel management are presented and analyzed. Then the different decision-making approaches are presented and discussed, as well as some classical contributions on organizational thinking. In order to explore in more depth the contributions, some case studies are presented and discussed.

- applying knowledge and understanding: Developing the ability to use the acquired knowledge for the interpretation of the case studies presented during the course.

- Communication skills: Developing communication skills and social skills through interaction and discussion on case studies.

- Learning skills: Developing analytical skills and understanding through reading texts and participation in group discussions in the classroom.

Assessment

The exam is written and is based on multiple choice questions (which allow an objective assessment of the knowledge acquired by the student) and open-ended questions (which facilitate the evaluation of the ability to reason)

The final evaluation is determined on a thirty point scale. Multiple choices and open ended questions equally contribute to the final grade.
