Learning Objectives
A) Knowledge of the history of early Christianity with particular regard to the various stages of the formation of Christian thought through the centuries I-IV. Knowledge of the history of the book in the ancient church, the importance of books for training and dissemination of cristina culture.
B) Knowledge of the history of the book in the early church, the importance of books for the formation and spread of Christian culture.
Program
A) The cultural and political environment in which he was born and grew Christian thought of the origins: Neo-Platonism, Judaism, Gnosticism. The Alexandrian school. The doctrine of the Logos. I note on the great theological controversies of the century. III, IV and V: monarchianesimo, subordinationism, Arianism, Nestorianism and Monophysitism. The Christian empire of Constantine: relations with the church. The influence of the imperial political power on the first four ecumenical councils.
B) Following the developments in the history of Christianity, we will study the highlights of the dissemination and preservation of books and texts: the ancient libraries and philology Hellenistic; early Christian texts; transition from the roll to the code; books in the fourth century; Latin Middle Ages; Carolingian Renaissance; manuscripts to the press. Particular attention will be devoted to the literary genres of ancient Christian writings, their luck, the influences or sustained over time.

Depth knowledge of the historical roots and cultrali of early Christianity, the inetrazioni with literary and philosophical culture of Judaism and Hellenism. Knowledge of methods of training, dissemination and transmission of books and texts in the ancient Church.

Oral examination
