Learning Objectives
Detect / create continuities with previously acquired knowledge;
Acquire specific jargon;
Acquire critical instruments of analysis;
Recognize the literary text as an arena of negotiation between the past and the present;
Understand US cultural-literary identity;
Find intersections and interfaces between disciplines (history, geography, film studies, political science, etc.);
To be able to apply the methodology of study and research to other aspects of US culture
Program
On the background of cultural studies, we shall analyze the meaning of "pop" and "popular" diachronically through politics, arts and music
with a seminar on the relationships between USA and UK music
