Program
Our course will help students acquire the necessary skills to understand and critically refletct on the main tangled facts in 20th century History of the Italian Republic. We will also constantly bring back to memory the issue of the public use of History and aim at enhancing the ability to critically interpret this phenomenon.
Plan
The course will be organized into two parts
1 General History of 20th century Italian Republic
2 The evolution of the History of sport in 20th century Italy
The History of Sport, far from being the mere play list of results and records, aims at reconstructing one of the most characteristic phenomenons of modernity in the twentieth century. Its special facet consists in its taking place right at the crossroads of a number of subjects from History to Philosophy, from Literature to Anthropology, from Pedagogy to the the presentation of scenarios conveyed by a new character, the hero, the champion who comes to replace one of the most characteristic symbols of classical culture in the collective imaginary.
