Learning Objectives
The course is aimed to the basic comprehension of political symbolics through the study of the character of the homo sacer. The corse wants to introduce students to the political and philosophical comprehension of the lager (concentration camp), as opposite to the city, through the reading an interpretation of suggested books.

Main topics of the course are the following:
- Power and bare life
- Mythic violence and divine violence in Walter Benjamin
- Ideology and terror in Hannah Arendt
- The concentration camp as the paradygm of the modernity
- The concentration camp and the order of terror
- The concentration camp and the issue of the witness

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
The learning achievements and the competences to be acquired are in line with those required by a bachelor in Political Sciences of International Relations. in particular, they are related to the acquisition of knowledge and comprehension of papers that allow to elaborate original ideas into a wider and multidisciplinary research environment. The course help the students to acquire competences and skills in order to deal with new and unconventional topics and to manage complexity. Finally to communicate the acquired competences in a clear and complete way.
