Learning Objectives

The course introduces the students to the Arabic language, spoken and written in twenty-two nations which are geographically located in two continents: Africa and Asia. The first year is based on a certain number of hours  that have a specific target: provide basic elements to communicate in Modern Standard Arabic by using simple topics such as, paying a bill, road indications, booking a room in a hotel, order a meal, read booklets, etc...

Program

A general introduction to the Arabic language: input about the history of the Arab countries and the Arabic language with its varieties such as dialects;

Teaching the differences between Classical Arabic, Standard Arabic, Dialects and their different uses;

The program is based on the alphabet (pronunciation and writing), the morphology, the articles, the personal pronouns, the possessive, the interrogative form, prepositions, cardinal numbers from 0 to 100, various expressions.

Nominal and verbal sentences: basic verbs are taken into consideration with some of their derived forms.

Teaching Material

The teaching material prepared by the language assistant in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the language assistant specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Notes

During the lessons, simple topics are introduced through readings, listening and recreational activities that will help the students memorize the vocabulary he/she has to learn in order to communicate at A1 level.
