Learning Objectives

The main object of the course is providing students with theoretical, methodological and empirical instruments to better understand the dynamics through which communication is used as an organizational resource, inside and outside the enterprise, and as a leverage. Connected topics will be the practices of research on corporate communication and climate, and the use of digital technologies for organizational culture.

Along with case studies, regarding also cases of crisis management, business games, seminars and team works, it will be proposed a business game aiming at developing a promotional strategy for an enterprise. The goal of this activity is the achievement of an integration between organizational theories and practical management of communication.

3. Theoretical approaches to organizational communication
4. The research on organizational communication: relationship with the client and climate analysis in crisis situations, strategies and techniques of negotiation
5. Business games proposed by real enterprises
6. Team works to create and offer solutions to the entrepreneurial clients.
7. Presentation to the clients of the works and solutions created by the teams.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Students must reach these goals:

1.     Knowledge and understanding of: forms and languages of enterprises organizational communication, private and public, through the acquisition of competences on the main model and theories on organizations

1.1. Students reach these basic knowledges attending lessons and studying mentioned textbooks and cases shown in class hours.

2.     Use of knowledge and understanding skills: applying some methodologies of research on communication relations inside organizations.

2.2. Students reach these skills by laboratory activities during class hours.

3. Judging skills: critical approach on the organizational models and the suitable communication techniques applied.

3.1. Students reach and demonstrate these skills during debates with the Professor and with the class, during laboratory activities and during the preparation of the final exam.

4. Communication ability: students have to interact during the lesson asking questions, exchanging ideas with the colleagues, writing essays and presentations. 
4.1. Students reach these skills organizing discussions and exercises. 

5. Learning skills: students have to adopt a critical approach while studying in order to connect theoretical knowledge with empirical analysis, obtaining a personal point of view on the subject. 
5.1. Students strengthen these skills debating with the Professor and the rest of the class.

Attendance

It will be compulsory the attendance of 2/3 of the classes time. It is compulsory taking part to business games proposed during the course.

Assessment

Oral exam end evaluation of an essay based on the teamwork.

The individual oral exam will be based on the course books and will evaluate the student learning and his ability of reprocessing and argumentation. 

An excellent evaluation will be scored when the student shows good critical and deepening abilities; when he/she shows to connect the main course topics; when he/she uses an appropriate language regarding to a specific discipline.

A reasonable evaluation will be scored when the student shows a mnemonic knowledge of contents; when he/she shows a limited critical ability and limited ability to connect the main course topics; when he/she uses an appropriate language.

A passing grade will be scored when the student shows a minimal knowledge of the topics; when he/she uses of the language not completely appropriate.

A negative evaluation will be scored when the student shows difficulties in the orientation among the topics dealt with during the exam; when he/she shows educational gap; when he/she uses an inappropriate language.

Disabilità e DSA

Le studentesse e gli studenti che hanno registrato la certificazione di disabilità o la certificazione di DSA presso l'Ufficio Inclusione e diritto allo studio, possono chiedere di utilizzare le mappe concettuali (per parole chiave) durante la prova di esame.
