Learning Objectives
The course aims to illustrate the research potential of Electron Microscopy to PhD students.
Program
General principles of Electron Microscopy. Theoretical application examples. Laboratory experience 1 (preparative for ESEM microscopy) Laboratory experience 2 (morphological investigations conducted at ESEM).
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
- The PhD student will be placed in the conditions to possess adequate mastery of the theoretical aspects of the laboratory modality of ultrastructural analysis.
- The student must be able to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts, theories and practical aspects of the course
- The student will have to demonstrate their ability to use knowledge and concepts that allow them to reason according to the specific logic of the research discipline independently. In particular, he must be able to understand the relationship between morphology and function, sensing the physiopathological potential of the structures under examination or their modification during experimental approaches.
- The student must demonstrate that he is able to communicate his knowledge in a thorough, precise and exhaustive manner to people already competent in the subject, as well as demonstrate that he can summarize and simplify the topics in a popular way so as to be understandable even to those who do not they are experts always and in any case adopting adequate and precise terminology.
- The student must demonstrate that he is able to reach conclusions, examples or parallels independently, on the basis of what he has learned from the program and on the basis of what he has learned using supplementary or autonomously found sources on his own initiative and to develop a planning based on the methods illustrated in the course.
Teaching Material
The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it
Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
There will be 1 hour of frontal lesson and 3 hours of laboratory attendance.
- Innovative teaching methods
Flipped Laboratory
- Attendance
Attendance to theoretical and practical activities is mandatory for 100% of the planned commitments.
- Course books
Provided by the Teachers through the Moodle Platform
- Assessment
By attending activities. In particular, the interaction between teachers and students is interviewed so that the latter are involved in the understanding of the theoretical and applicative aspects with a continuous comparison during the laboratory hours.
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
