Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide knowledge on Italian grammar and analysis of texts.

Program

Lessons will focused on Italian grammar and the concept of "text", and then move on to more specific topics, inherent to the evolution of contemporary Italian (with particular regard to the use of the language in media, even in sectoral languages) .

The course includes a six-hour writing laboratory, managed by Prof. Monica Alba and centered on exercises in grammar, punctuation and the correct execution of a summary.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

Knowledge and understanding

At the end of the course, the student must have acquired the knowledge relating to the fundamentals of the discipline, specifically in relation to the analysis of literary and documentary texts, through the mastery of the various issues addressed according to the program.

Applying knowledge and understanding

At the end of the course the student must be able: a) to describe the main phenomena that led to the formation of the Romance languages; b) to recognize the different parameters of linguistic variation; c) to recognize and analyze morphological, syntactic and lexical aspects of ancient, literary and documentary Italian; d) to master the technical and analytical terminology of the discipline and to develop a critical judgment related to the main methodologies for the linguistic analysis of texts.

Making judgments

At the end of the course the student must have developed a linguistic awareness sufficient to allow him to independently and critically identify the specific linguistic traits of the documentary and literary prose of the origins.

Communication skills

At the end of the course the student must have acquired the ability to express the contents of the discipline in a relevant way, using the relevant terminology appropriately; you must demonstrate that you are able to communicate your knowledge clearly and unambiguously to specialist and non-specialist interlocutors, using appropriate explanatory examples each time to support the theoretical description of the linguistic facts being analyzed.

Learning skills

At the end of the course the student, in light of the learning methods developed, must have acquired the ability to independently deepen the knowledge acquired, as well as the ability to observe the language and to detect and critically evaluate the linguistic traits that, at different levels, characterize an ancient text.
