Learning Objectives
The course is aimed at acquiring the theoretical and applicative principles of antibiotic resistance. The primary objective of the course is the acquisition of knowledge and methods used in the determination of antibiotic resistance and its levels.
Program
Mechanisms of antibiotic resistance
Laboratory techniques for determining and quantifying antibiotic resistance.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
D1-Knowledge and ability to understand: Knowledge of the problem of both the emergence of antibiotic resistance and its spread both in hospitals and in the environment. Understanding of terms and language specific to this issue.
D2-Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: Understanding the role of the misuse of antibiotics in the emergence and spread of antibiotic resistance.
D3-Autonomy of judgement: Understanding the importance of a common strategy in combating this problem.
D4-Communication skills: Ability to use microbiological language to describe the severity of antibiotic resistance.
D5-Learning skills: The student should demonstrate the ability to:
-sustain an adversarial discussion with people of both equal background and experts in different topics, regulatory, scientific, procedural;
