Learning Objectives

The course aims to provide the skills to evaluate the main issues of environmental ethics, and the main ethical problems arising from the use of new digital technologies in work, education, politics and individuale social life. We will provide the basic theoretical notions to focus the relationship between natural and artificial and to critically address the open questions of these two new directions of moral philosophy.

Program

- what environmental ethics means, starting from its history

-  philosophical framing of the relationship between "natural" and "artificial"

- brief history of cybernetics and artificial intelligence

- why and in what sense environmental ethics and the ethics of new technologies are "new" ethics

- what are the main problems of environmental ethics and the main current orientations

- which are the main ethical problems of the use of AI systems in work, education, politics and social life

- communicate with peers, the wider academic community, and society in the fields of their expertise
