Learning Objectives

The study programme of the Summer school focuses on the representation and narration of work, identity, class and gender within the migrant condition in different linguistic and cultural Anglophone areas.

Specific attention is given to the analysis of the so-called New Englishes spoken in the former colonies of the British Empire, as well as in the context of Black Britain, within the fields of journalism, literature, art and cinema.  The Summer School aims at offering the students the linguistic and cultural tools needed to analyze texts and multimedia material that reflect the relationship work/identity in various realities of the Anglophone world (USA, UK, India, Canada, Caribbean and Anglophone Pacific Areas).

Participants will acquire the following skills: building and managing the vocabulary and the registers specific to the disciplines, recognizing languages and forms of alterity, analyzing texts and situations from an intercultural, postcolonial and gender perspective.

Teaching, translation of fiction and non-fiction, tourism, intercultural mediation, cinema, political science, literature, and figurative arts.

PERIOD: 14-16 July, lessons and hours of individual study

In-person classes, workshops. 

3 CFU within the scientific-disciplinary group 10/ANGL-01 (Anglistica e Angloamericanistica)

Final exam on Wednesday 16 July with written questions in English on the themes included in the School programme.
