Learning Objectives
The course deals with the analysis of linguistic structures both in their universal aspect and in that particular reference to the Italian language. The languages are analyzed with respect to their operation are presented synchronic but also issues related to the history of languages and cultures which express them.
The study of language in terms of its internal structures is a strong educational basis as develops and stimulates the ability to observe, self-analysis, reflection, logical deduction, are essential to the critical study of any reasoned and subject content.
The aim of the course is
- To acquire the basics to learn about the nature of human language, the cognitive path of man in his evolutionary history, the universal character of the language and the details of the different grammars
- To acquire historical knowledge necessary for the knowledge of the deep cultural changes and significant for the species
- To acquire the use of the method of interactive writing CmapTools for content organization she linguistic and any other disciplinary field, but also as a general method as a powerful means of synthesis of knowledge.

The program will have the following trends:
1. Linguistics as science (12 hours)

2. The structure of human languages (36 hours)
- specific characteristics and differences from animal languages
- Darwinian evolution and homo sapiens
- sounds of language: phonetics and phonology
- the construction of the words: morphology universal structure

- the construction of meaning: the universal structure of the semantics
- mind, brain, language: physiology and pathology linguistic linguistics
- Noam Chomsky and Universal Grammar
- concept maps as a predictive text tool and mental organization
3. The languages in time and space (6 hours)
- the diachronic linguistics
- languages and dialects
- the Italian situation
4. History of linguistics (6 hours)
the founders, schools, theories from '900 to today

The student must show
- mastery of scientific terminology and its specific use
- knowledge of the stages of linguistic thought
- knowledge of the structures of language and ability to analyze it using the methods of the discipline
- mastery of the basic concepts of the theory of language, also as a result of self-observation reached capacity as speaker / listener
- ability to use concept maps, through the presentation of maps, individual or small group, and their oral presentation in front of the teacher and the class
