Learning Objectives
Orosius offers a very peculiar approach to the Roman history. Students are expected to refresh their knowledges in the field of classical and post-classical historiography.
Program
- The beginning of Roman historiography;
- Greek historians of Rome in the age of emperialism;
- From Sallustius to Tacito;
- Profane historiography in greek and latin;
- Christian historiography in greek and latin;
- Augustin of Ippona and Orosius.
Bridging Courses
Students are expected to have sound knowledges in Roman history and historiography.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Students will be able to evaluate critically the different trends of classical and post-classical historiography.

- Assessment
By half of the term, students will have to write a paper on an argument to be decided with the teacher at the beginning of the term. At the end of the term, an oral examination will take place.
