Learning Objectives
The course aims to address some essential components of contrastive linguistics Spanish. The first part of the course concentrates on the exhaustive study of some aspects of comparative syntax, especially the construction of subordinate clauses and the uses and contrasts of indicative / subjunctive modes in both languages (Spanish / Italian).
The second part of the course will deal with the presence of some interferences and false affinities in the lexical field and phraseology, source of errors, confusion and misunderstandings between the two languages.

1 Basic concepts of contrastive linguistics
1.1. Contrastive grammar: strategy of learning and communication.
2. Indicative / subjunctive: uses and functions.
2.1. Independent and subordinate clauses.
2.2. Substantive clauses (impersonal and personal).
2.3. Relative (adjectival) clauses.
2.4. Adverbial clauses.
3. Basic concepts of historical grammar, lexicology and lexicography.
4. Lexicon and phraseology: the 'false friends'.
5. False affinities, Hispanisms and Italianisms.
