Learning Objectives
Detect / create continuities with previously acquired knowledge;
Acquire specific jargon;

Recognize the literary text as an arena of negotiation between the past and the present;
Understand US cultural-literary identity;
Be able to distinguish between different genres and authors;
Find intersections and interfaces between disciplines (history, geography, film studies, political science, etc.);
To be able to apply the methodology of study and research to other aspects of US culture

In classroom:
an overview of US literature
the US Nobel prize winners: their works and literary-cultural background
Individual study: history of US literature - main protagonists, genres, and movements (1st year - from origins to Civil War; 2nd year - from Civil War to today)

knowledge and understanding of historical-cultural context, critical instrument for text analysis to study Anglo-American literature from the origins to the 19th century (1st year) and from the 19th century to today (second year)
-applying knowledge and understanding to literary analysis
- making judgements - the student can analyze and evaluate texts and form personal opinions about different ethnic groups and genres
- communication skills:the student understands and appreciates difference and other cultures
-learning skills:the student can write a bibliography and use methods of research in order to be able to continue their studies in the Laurea Magistrale (AngloAmerican Literature)

written exam on a computer (31 question test)
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
