Learning Objectives
Objective of the course is to explore the theme of the strategies and the strategic management of the enterprises
Program
1. The firm as a strategic formula
2. The determinants of long-term success of the business: strategic coherence
3. The concept of strategy
4. The role of targets in the process of training strategies
5. The managerial process of creation and execution of the corporate strategy . The strategic formulation.
6. The evaluation of the external environment. The competitive analysis and evolution of the industry.
7. The evaluation of resources and competitive position. Strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities. The strategic priorities.
8. The basic competitive strategies: cost leadership, differentiation, value of the offer, focusing.
9. The collaboration strategies; merger and acquisition strategies; strategies for outsourcing; offensive and defensive strategies.
10. Competing in international markets.
11. Strategies consistent with the evolution of the sectors.
12. The vertical integration strategies; diversification strategies.
13. The strategies in times of crisis.
14. The implementation of strategies and organizational implications. The role of leadership and corporate culture.

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Applying knowledge and understanding : Students should be able to apply their knowledge and understanding and solving problems related to multiple and different contexts that characterize its nature, the different sized companies, using, where necessary even at different disciplinary skills. The methods of educational work in which these results will be achieved will consist of: lectures, testimonies, analysis and discussion of case studies, group work and seminars, preparing drawings on issues of corporate strategy, also applied to case studies.
Making judgments :Students must be able to apply independent judgment with the acquired knowledge and ability to understand and solve strategic problems related to company operations.
Students must also be able to use both at the conceptual level and at the operational knowledge gained self-evaluation skills and abilities discriminated the different application contexts. The methods of educational work in which these results will be achieved will consist of: lectures, testimonies, analysis and discussion of case studies, group work and seminars, preparing drawings on corporate strategy issues, also applied to business cases.
Communication skills: Students must acquire the typical discipline technical language to communicate clearly and unambiguously with specialists stakeholders (managers, academics, experts, ...) and at the same time must be able to develop interpersonal and communication skills not subject specialists. They must be able to communicate the individual ideas and positions that emerged in the working groups which are called to work in the classroom.
The methods of educational work in which these results will be achieved will consist of: lectures, testimonies, analysis and discussion of case studies, group work and seminars, preparing drawings on issues of corporate strategy, also referring to real business environments . Also they will follow teaching approaches in which the direct involvement and interaction with the students will be given priority.Learning skills (learning skills) Students must develop appropriate learning skills to allow them to continue to independently investigate major issues of discipline especially in the workplace in which they will operate. The methods of educational work in which these results will be achieved will consist of: lectures, testimonies, analysis and business case discussions, group work and seminars, preparing drawings on issues of economics and management, focusing on transfer students ability to select and properly use the bibliographical sources
Learning skills : Students must develop appropriate learning skills to allow them to continue to independently investigate major issues of discipline especially in the workplace in which they will operate. The methods of educational work in which these results will be achieved will consist of: lectures, testimonies, analysis and business case discussions, group work and seminars, preparing drawings on issues of economics and management, focusing on transfer students ability to select and properly use the bibliographical sources

Teaching, Attendance, Course Books and Assessment
- Teaching
The course involves the use of different teaching methods :
- frontal lessons;
- Testimonies from managers or entrepreneurs ;
- Company visits ;
- Group work and preparation of papers on case studies on topics of economics and management ;
- Classroom discussions .
In particular, during the course of the group work will be carried out that will see students actively involved in the analysis of the main economic sectors and of representative business strategies of the Italian reality and Marche
- Attendance
Students wishing to take the exam as attending students must actively attend at least 3/4
of the lessons .

- Assessment
The assessment takes place through a written test, consisting of 5 open questions on the topics covered during the course. The evaluation of the responses will take into account the degree of knowledge of the topic, the completeness and the clarity of exposition.
The student must answer the questions in order to demonstrate:
- to know how to frame the studied concepts;
- to have acquired the mastery of the issues and concepts dealt with during the course;
- to be able to apply these concepts for the purposes of understanding, critical evaluation and the solution of situations and problems related to the strategic governance of companies;
- to be able to explain their arguments rigorously and in limited time, using an appropriate and concise language.
The assessment of the student's level of preparation will be carried out taking into account the evaluation of each individual exam question (maximum 6 points for correct answer), of possible in-depth analysis with a couple of oral questions and of the work done by the student (if attending) during the year (maximum 2 points higher than the final evaluation).
The time available to answer written questions is 135 minutes
- Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.
To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
