Learning Objectives
The course is designed to develop and support all four diciplines of the English language, with particular emphasis on spoken English, debate, and pronounciation. Students will be assessed in open debates in small groups at B1 level (according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) criteria-

Program
The course will include reading and listening comprehension work, as well as grammmar chapters when and where necessary. The focus will however be on students' original production of texts and spoken arguments.
Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)
Knowledge and understanding:
At the end of the course, students will have to demonstrate an adequate level of knowledge of the grammatical and lexical structures (level B1 according to the CEFR - Common European Framework of Reference) covered. Students will have to demonstrate their ability to understand the key points of a general conversation and contribute actively.
Applied knowledge and understanding:
At the end of the course, students will have to:
- interact with other interlocutors;
- being able to understand a text, even a scientific or poetic one;
- be able to formulate and answer questions of a general nature;
Judgment autonomy:
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- express their preferences/opinions on topics;
- have a greater awareness of common mistakes and be able to correct them
Communication skills:
At the end of the course, students will:
- know how to communicate with a certain level of fluency to make the conversation more interactive;
- be able to hold discussions on topics prompted by comprehension activities of a written or listening text.
Ability to learn:
At the end of the course, students must have a level of knowledge consistent with the B1 level of the grammatical and lexical topics covered and a degree of autonomy that allows for in-depth and informed debate of the same.
