Learning Objectives

The purpose of the course will be to enable the student/student to orient himself/herself with respect to a topic that relates epochs distant in time and history, how since the eighteenth century, for a series of historical-social-literary and artistic reasons, a path of recovery and understandings of medieval values has been set in motion.The subject matter of the course is The Myth of the Middle Ages in the Modern Age.

Program

The student/student will be enabled to understand the concept of the Middle Ages from being a dark period and a multifaceted era enl corso del tempo from the 18th century onward by reflecting on:

1) Sacred Museum founded in the Vatican with the intent of understanding religious art prior to the Renaissance era

2) text that traced the history of art from its origins, thus with a purely didactic interest in the Middle Ages

3) artistic movements that took the Middle Ages as a reference (Pre-Raphaelites, Nazarenes...)

4) literature that set stories in medieval times, making the Middle Ages a model

5) collecting the works of Primitives

6) the institution of civic cemeteries that took up the models of Gothic art

7) cinema with medieval settings , including on persoanggi who lived in that period..

Learning Achievements (Dublin Descriptors)

The student/student must be enabled to understand and discuss the acquisition processes of teaching strategies, therefore interactive lectures and activities will be offered to ensure that they are able to acquire the teaching material whose content and procedures are in line with the acquisition of the content.

The student/student will gain a critical understanding of the degree of effectiveness of the teaching activities and content used in learning the guidelines of art history then the contextualization of the concept of the Middle Ages in the modern age through an articulated series of situations.

The student/student will be able to communicate complex ideas in written and oral form. To achieve this goal he/she will make individual and group presentations in class by posting comments and reflections on Moodle in order to trigger comparisons and discussions;

The student/student will be able to listen attentively and work individually and in groups; lectures, pair and group work will be organized for this purpose.

The teaching material prepared by the lecturer in addition to recommended textbooks (such as for instance slides, lecture notes, exercises, bibliography) and communications from the lecturer specific to the course can be found inside the Moodle platform › blended.uniurb.it

Assessment

Oral examination ascertaining knowledge of the materials provided, ability to contextualise the various topics prepared on different centuries.

Disability and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)

Students who have registered their disability certification or SLD certification with the Inclusion and Right to Study Office can request to use conceptual maps (for keywords) during exams.

To this end, it is necessary to send the maps, two weeks before the exam date, to the course instructor, who will verify their compliance with the university guidelines and may request modifications.
