This course will improve and increase student's knowledge, skills, and confidence in successfully representing themselves in English in formal and informal situations. Students will improve their abilities to work as a team, to cope with new cultures, and to manage diversity.

Students will participate in a series of lectures and interactive activities that provide opportunities for experiencing, discussing, and exploring global management and intercultural issues.

Durante il corso, attraverso case studies, verranno sviluppati argomenti quali:

1. Consulting and Networking;

2. Diversity and Gender,

3. Organisations and Hierarchy;

4. HRM;

5. Negotiations and Conflict resolutions.

Durante le lezioni del corso monografico si svolgeranno anche alcune esercitazioni pratiche e agli studenti verrà chiesto di lavorare in piccoli gruppi e preparare, di volta in volta, materiale che si valuterà poi in classe; la partecipazione alle lezioni comporterà dunque lavoro aggiuntivo da svolgere tra un incontro e l'altro e per questo è richiesta, agli studenti frequentanti, una continuità di impegno.

L'esame di Lingua Inglese 2 - LM2 non potrà essere sostenuto se non sì è superato l'esame scritto e orale di Lingua Inglese 1 - LM2.

LETTORATO LIVELLO C2

The 2nd year English lettorato will be organized around the concept of ‘intercultural training'. Initially, students will be called on to perform a series of tasks involving reading, watching and discussing authentic materials in English regarding their own country -- and asking themselves what difficulties foreign business people might have in intercultural communication with Italians.  The group will then examine its reaction to situations and systems very different from those they have experienced in Italy, and each student will be called on to read, watch, discuss and write about a wide range of materials and topics ranging from daily life in other countries to theories regarding the relationship between grammar and culture.

In the second part of the course, after having examined and discussed simple examples of ‘intercultural training' conducted in English, the students will be divided into teams, each of which will be responsible for developing a set of intercultural training materials for use in a classroom simulation of an international  business setting. 

The final mark received at the end of the course will be based in part upon the materials prepared by each individual student during the course and on discussion, during the oral exam, of the simulations and of the materials used to complete them.  Part of the final mark will also be earned through active participation in classroom discussion and assigned activities; students who do not meet project deadlines will be penalized. To help students keep up with the workload and plan their study time, a calendar of activities and deadlines will be distributed at the beginning of the course, outlining weekly and monthly deadlines to be respected; in particular, all required reading is expected to be completed BEFORE the classes in which it will be discussed.
The activities foreseen in the first semester will be based in part on the texts listed below, and in part on information provided in a dispensa and in several videos and films.

Testi di studio

Data la particolare natura del corso, è consigliata la partecipazione attiva degli studenti ai quali verranno fornite precise indicazioni bibliografiche a conclusione del corso. Tali indicazioni verranno lasciate a disposizione degli studenti presso la bacheca di via Oddi e presso la sede del Centro Linguistico d'Ateneo; saranno inoltre pubblicate online sulla pagina del materiale didattico della docente, sul sito della Facoltà.
