Upon request by PhD students, to be submitted to the PhD Office at the beginning of the third year (i.e. by 30th November) and subject to a favorable opinion from the Academic Board, the mention of “Doctor Europaeus” will be issued. The following conditions must be met:
- Positive judgment on the thesis work granted by two professors (referees) from two universities in two different countries of the Union and different from the one in which the thesis is discussed;
- At least one member of the final examination commission must belong to a university institution in a European Community country other than the one in which it is being discussed.
- Part of the discussion of the thesis must take place in one of the official languages of the European Community, different from that of the country in which the thesis is being discussed;
- Part of the research presented in the thesis must have been developed during a stay of at least 3 months in a European Community country other than the one in which the candidate is enrolled.
