Mauro De Santi's research is mainly focused on the role of physical activity and natural compounds in the prevention of cancer. Particularly, he developed translational approaches based on the use of 3D cancer cell models to evaluate the effects of physical exercise on tumor progression and recurrences, in the view to improving the knowledge on exercise oncology for tertiary cancer prevention.
He also works on surveys about health determinants such as physical activity and nutrition among children and adults and their association with health status.
